About the Craft:

Khandua silk weaving, a tradition dating back to the 12th century AD, holds deep cultural significance in Odisha, especially in Puri’s Jagannath Temple rituals. Nuapatna is home to the largest cluster of Khandua weavers, where over 6,000 looms create masterpieces like this one. The single ikat technique, where either the warp or weft threads are tie-dyed before weaving, produces the delicate, curvilinear patterns seen in the floral motifs of this saree.
